3.2 PROFIBUS-DP

PROFIBUS-DP is a PROFIBUS communication profile optimized for high-speed, time-critical

data transmission at field level using low-cost connections. PROFIBUS-DP is a suitable

substitute for conventional, costly parallel wiring of 24 V measurement signals in production and

manufacturing automation, as well as for analog 4(0) to 20mA measurement signals in process

automation.
